About this program

The Salvation Army in Grafton was opened March 4, 1923 by Captain Clifford Miller. Once a thriving railroad town with a bustling economy, a decline in the railroading industry lead to a decrease in population, businesses and money flow. Although many business relocated or closed as a result of this waning economy, the Army, realizing the need of its presence more than ever, stayed true to its mission and remained in the Grafton area. Despite ever changing economic conditions, the Grafton Salvation Army has stood strong to its dedication to the salvation of souls the growing of disciples, and meeting human needs in the name of Christ for almost 80 years. The Grafton Corps serves the heart of Appalachia in Taylor, Barbour and Randolph Counties.
