About this program

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 when William Booth decided to take his ministry into the streets. It was there, in the slums of London’s East End, that the Army found its calling and mission to reach the poor, the homeless, the hungry and the destitute. Today, the Army is recognized as both a part of the universal Christian church and as a leading social services organization. For nearly 150 years, The Salvation Army has been meeting human needs in 124 countries around the globe — including helping the community right here in Missoula. Each year, we serve people who have no place left to turn and we meet those human needs without discrimination. From basic needs such as food and shelter to helping neighbors struggling with substance addiction, domestic violence, or the impacts of disaster, we work to provide relief and restoration. The Salvation Army is changing — and saving — lives every day. The Salvation Army is changing – and saving – lives every day.
