About this program

The Breast Cancer Charities of America exists to eliminate breast cancer as a life-threatening illness. We bring together organizations representing all health and social service disciplines in the commitment to establish new and unprecedented levels of effectiveness in research, education, advocacy and support. BCCA is the only non-profit bringing the ‘integrated cancer care’ message to women of America. The Help Now Fund is a program for breast cancer patients; providing one-time emergency financial assistance for rent and utility bills. The Help Now Fund program accepts applications monthly from the 1st through the 7th. Applications received after the 7th will not be considered for funding and applications are not held. To apply for the Help Now Fund, the patient and Medical Personnel or Social Worker from your treatment facility will need to fill out the application together. For verification purposes, the application must be submitted by medical personnel or social worker. Applications will not be accepted from patients. The Help Now Fund is a monthly distribution program with a maximum of $500 per approved applicant. This program is not on a first-come, first served basis. All qualifying applications will be submitted to the committee and considered for aid. To be considered for funding through The Help Now Fund the applicant must Be in active breast cancer treatment - Active treatment is defined as the period after diagnosis of breast cancer has been made by a licensed physician and treatment is being administered (chemotherapy, radiation, breast surgery for removal of cancer). Receiving maintenance medications alone does not qualify as active treatment; Be a U.S. Citizen; Provide documentation of past-due rent and/or utility bill. No handwritten leases accepted; Have not been funded within the past 12 months; Due to limited funds, eligible applicants are NOT guaranteed approval. Applying: Social Worker/Medical Personnel must fill out the application and sign *PLEASE WRITE LEGIBLY; Applicant must review and sign; Applications MUST be submitted from the medical facility by social worker, doctor or nurse for verification purposes; Applications are only accepted the 1st through the 7th of each month; Applications sent before or after the application period will NOT be accepted; Funding is limited to utility and rental fees only; Utility is defined as a heating, electrical or water bill. Cell phone payments, cable payments, mortgage payments, car payments, insurance or tax bills, medical payments and transportation costs are NOT eligible for funding; Copy of bills and/or rental agreement must be submitted with application. If APPROVED we will call social worker/medical personnel by the 15th of the month. Checks will be made payable to the utility and/or rental company and mailed to applicant’s home address for review. If NOT APPROVED we will email social worker/medical personnel. If applicant still meets guidelines, they may reapply the following month. Applicants must go through the social worker/medical personnel with any questions regarding their application.
