About this program

Tallatoona CAP, Inc. is a private nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Agency formed in 1967 in response to the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964, which kicked off the War on Poverty and authorized Community Action agencies all across the country. Currently there are more than 1,000 Community Action Agencies covering the 50 states all working on behalf of the poor to root out the causes of poverty, meet the needs of low-income individuals and families and help families achieve economic independence. Over the past 45 years we have grown from two counties to eight and have expanded our programs and services to include Head Start, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Weatherization, Community Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Health Related Services, and Holistic Case Management. The eight counties we serve include Bartow, Cobb, Douglas, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding and Polk, and range from rural to metropolitan. Our eight county service delivery area has a population of approximately 1.3 million people with more than 150,000 living in poverty; many of whom are children, aged and/or disabled.

I'm in need for my rent

Dec 9, 2020
Carol Sue McGuire

I need help with my rent for December. Im in the process of porting over to a DCA Section 8 Voucher. I've been going through a lot with Section 8 not paying my rent cause they say I moved in before it was approved, but yet they had it inspected. I was going to be homeless and Im sick/disabled and I would not have made it being homeless, so my Legal Aide Advocate( Ms. Elise Brown) paid my rent for 3 months. She cant seem to help with Dec rent and that's the only month before my DCA Voucher will start helping me with my rent. Please help me cause Im fixing to be evicted and will become homeless, then lose everything. I've been a Section 8 Voucher holder for 10 yrs and I can't lose my process porting over to a DCA Section 8 Voucher. Please help me! Please!!
