About this program

General Assistance is emergency assistance for low-income and indigent residents of Story County who have exhausted all other funding sources. To apply for General Assistance, it is necessary to stop in the Community Services office between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, to fill out an application to determine your eligibility for this program. Please bring verification of any job income within the last 30 days. If applying for utility assistance, please bring the utility bill with you.

Assistance for Rent, Utilities, Emergency medical treatment, Food vouchers, Prescription drugs, Other basic needs on a case-by-case basis
