About this program

Since 1965, the South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. (SSCAC), a private not-for-profit organization, has provided a range of critical services to low-income individuals and families on the South Shore of Massachusetts, and has toiled to combat the root causes of poverty in those communities. SSCAC runs many programs in the areas of Youth and Family Development, Income Maintenance, Nutrition, Emergency Assistance, Self-Sufficiency, Energy Assistance, Employment, and Transportation Assistance. SSCAC is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, for demonstrating "substantial compliance with nationally recognized Criteria for high-quality early childhood programs." SSCAC is funded through federal, state, private and local sources.
Services offered
Fuel Assistance Program; Weatherization Program; Emergency Food and Shelter Program (one-time emergency assistance with rents/mortgages to prevent eviction or foreclosure, or one-time emergency assistance with a fuel delivery or utility bill)
