The Section 8 Program provides housing subsidy for qualified applicants who locate rental units in the private market with participating landlords. Under this program, the applicant pays approximately 30 percent of his/her adjusted income for rent and utilities, and the housing authority pays the balance of the fair market rent to the private landlord.
