About this program

Since 1965 SETHRA has been addressing the needs of families, individuals, and communities of Southeast Tennessee. We began as Progress for People and evolved into the Southeast Tennessee in 1985. Our presence in the community is one of uniqueness because of our committed participation to both the Tennessee Human Resource Association and the Tennessee Association of Community Action. As a member of both associations, SETHRA is able to integrate, coordinate, and provide a wide variety of services to individuals, families and communities.
Services offered
Crisis Intervention Program (assists low income individuals in an emergency situation by providing rent, utilities, mortgages and food); FEMA (assists low income individuals and families with rent, utilities, mortgages, and food when in an emergency situation); Homeless Assistance Program (assists with first month’s rent and with utility deposits); Housing Choice Voucher; Low-Income Home Energy Assistance; Shelter Plus Care; Supportive Housing Program; Weatherization

LACK OF FUNDS?

Where is this money going? I am very upset with this program!! My parents live on a very meager 1176.00 a month. I went with my Dad to apply for assistance from this program. He more than qualified. We were told he and my mother qualified for $500.00 in assistance. We waited about a week or two for the letter and when it arrived it stated that unfortunately due the lack of funds no assistance was available. What is wrong with this? Where is the money going? Who is actually receiving help from this program? Can someone please shed some light on this ?
