About this program

The Senior Assistance Center (SAC) was founded in 1981 as a nonprofit tax-exempt corporation to meet the emergency needs of Denver‘s elderly citizens living below 125% of poverty level. It began with one volunteer, one office and one telephone and since then, has grown considerably. In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the SAC provided 58,735 units of service to approximately 27,522 individuals including emergency services to 705 families in the amount of $129,554. In 1995, the organization purchased our building in northwest Denver were we serve clients, store food for our pantry, offer a weekly food bank and house our administrative office. We have off-street parking, are handicapped accessible and on a major bus route. We also purchased a home in northwest Denver where we are able to provide housing to six seniors.
