Rooftop of Virginia CAP

Rooftop of Virginia CAP opened its doors on May 19, 1965. For the last few decades, the private, non-profit agency has served numerous low-income/disadvantaged residents in the counties of Grayson and Carroll and the City of Galax. Rooftop of Virginia CAP continues to work towards the original goal of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, directing its efforts to the elimination of “poverty in the midst of plenty in this nation by offering to everyone the opportunity for education and training, the opportunity to work and the opportunity to live in decency and dignity.” The methods of combating poverty focus on assisting and empowering low-income citizens by using various strategies to increase their level of self-sufficiency. The outcomes improve the quality of life for individuals and families and strengthen the community in which they live.
