About this program

General Assistance provides temporary assistance with basic and special needs to eligible Polk County residents. Individuals and families who are at risk due to a temporary crisis and/or a mental or physical incapacity and who meet income guidelines may be assisted.

Yes I am off because of the Covid and I draw an appointment which is $250 and I’ve gotten behind on my rent I got other bills to and I need some help with my rent and I’ll I have a $445 and 550 for November and December so I need some help if I can get some they sent me to V A and V A can’t do nothing for a couple months because they got to get my DD 214 which takes forever so they denied me and they told me get a hold of you all right thank you
