Lafayette Housing Authority

The Lafayette Housing Authority (LHA) administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program to over 1000 households in the cities of Lafayette, West Lafayette and the five mile radius surrounding the cities. The Section 8 program was created in 1974 under the Community Development Act. It is one of the federal government's largest programs for assisting low income families to secure housing at an affordable cost. Funding for the Section 8 program is provided from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
