About this program

Jefferson Community Action Programs (JEFFCAP) is Jefferson Parish's agency dedicated to fulfilling its mission of empowering as many families of Jefferson Parish including our elderly, disabled, economically disadvantaged and youth through our various programs. Linkages have been built with federal, state, local and private agencies to provide a wide array of services in order to help meet the needs of the clients we serve. Our goal is to help people who need temporary assistance get back on their feet and become self sufficient. JEFFCAP offers programs ranging from Head Start to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; from housing counseling, rental and utility assistance, to helping families keep their homes, to temporary shelter for those who have lost their homes. Other programs include distribution of food commodities and subsidizing meals for Head Start children and those in attendance at our Family Day Care Homes Program. Also, we offer transportation to people, (who meet criteria) for medical appointments.
