About this program

On August 20, 1964, the Economic Opportunity Act was passed by Congress and this act was signed into law by President Johnson under his War On Poverty. Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. was established in 1965. HCCAO is a private, non-profit Corporation. Our organization is governed by a member 15 volunteer board representing the private, public and low-income sectors in our county. The Governing Board meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the main conference room at the North High Business Center where HCCAO is located. HCCAO, Inc. is now in its 49th year of existence and both the staff and Governing Board are proud to serve Highland County residents. The Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. is one of over 1,000 Community Action Agencies throughout the country. Community Action changes people lives, improves our communities, and makes our counties a better place to live. We are dedicated in Helping People and Changing Lives.
