About this program

Grand Valley Catholic Outreach began more than 40 years ago when two Franciscan sisters, Marguerite and Claudine, offered bag lunches from their back door to the homeless and hungry. Recognizing one’s right to food, clothing, and shelter, the valley’s four Catholic parishes – St. Joseph, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Sacred Heart, and St. Ann – entered into a collaborative agreement in 1988 and formally established Grand Valley Catholic Outreach. Today, with the support from interfaith and civic communities, the organization offers dignity and hope to those in distress.
Services offered
Rent - Guests must have an eviction notice and a means of sustaining themselves during the months ahead. An average of $250 is given in one time assistance; Utilities - When denied assistance by the LEAP program, guests may apply to our utility assistance program that is primarily funded by the Energy Outreach Colorado Foundation. A guest may be funded only once each year. Catholic Outreach is the only agency in Mesa County offering utility assistance from May through October.
