GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. was chartered in 1966 as a private, non-profit charitable organization under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and South Carolina law. In 1976 the State Legislative office designated GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. a public organization. It is one of 15 community action agencies in the state of South Carolina and one of 1000 in the United States. GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. is a standing member of the National Association of Community Action Agencies. GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. serves over 9,000 low income households in the Upper Savannah Planning District, which encompasses Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda Counties, as well as Fairfield, Lexington, and Richland Counties.
