Housing & Emergency Support Services (HESS) has been providing emergency financial assistance to residents of Portage County since 1941. Housing & Emergency Support Services (HESS) has been providing emergency financial assistance to residents of Portage County since 1941. The program’s mission is to insure that all families who are experiencing a crisis which threatens their well-being will receive the services needed to stabilize and resolve the crisis.
Services offered
Emergency Financial Assistance: Housing start up costs for the homeless, Eviction notices for those at risk for homelessness; Limited utility, prescription, and hotel assistance; Crisis Intervention Services; Short-term case management; Coordination with other community resources to ensure that maximum support is available to meet each household’s needs

Mr Landlord

I am a landlord who was introduced to your program in April of this year. I’ve been renting single family homes for 20 plus years. This has been the worse experience in my entire rental history. I will not use your program again and plan to share my experience with the other 200 landlords that meet monthly in stark county.
