About this program

General Assistance is mandated by Illinois State Statutes. The program provides monthly financial service for people attempting to enter or re-enter the work force. Also, the program provides financial assistance to people who have a pending Social Security Disability application. If approved for financial assistance, certain medical care may also be provided. This program is designed for people who have no income.
