Cocopah Indian Housing and Development (CIHAD)

The Cocopah Indian Tribe’s ultimate goal is to establish a strong, cohesive and financially stable community on its Reservation. To encourage those members already living on the Reservation to remain and to encourage members now living off-reservation to return, the Tribe deemed it essential to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing for every tribal member. Additionally, to build up financial stability and to help strengthen pride in the Cocopah culture, it was also deemed important to transition tribal members from renting homes to owning homes. To meet these challenges, the Tribe created an independent organization Cocopah Indian Housing and Development (CIHAD). The company is managed by a policy Board of Commissioners.
