Christian Ministries of Delaware County is cooperative agency of 85 Christian organizations that covenant together to strengthen the church and to serve individuals and families of our community with Christ-motivated assistance through its programs and commissions. Emergency assistance consists of helping clients who need help paying their rent or utility bills. Our Outreach Coordinator screens and works with them to also budget their money for the future. This help is limited to one payment, one time per year. Emergency Assistance involves a variety of ways we help, but most often it is help with rent and/or utility bills. We have several churches that assist us in this area. We call this Church Matching and this helps extend our resources so we may help more people. Some churches make a monthly financial contribution and then we do the interview, record keeping, and money distribution, with a follow up report to the church. Other churches are available “on call.” Many churches have people in need knocking on their doors. By partnering with Christian Ministries they are able to facilitate their call to help their neighbor, but do not have to use human resources in their office to meet these needs. These churches depend on the generosity of their congregations to make this funding available. Christian Ministries could not do what we do without the continued help from so many churches in our community.
