About this program

In 1965, the current Bristol Community Organization (BCO) opened under the name "Economic Opportunities Commission." The purpose was to provide programs and procedures to develop, to the fullest potential, the skills and talents of the residents of Bristol. On October 5, 1971 the "Community Commissions on Economic Opportunity" ordinance was amended, changing the name to the "Bristol Community Organization (BCO)." On November 1, 1972 BCO was incorporated as a 501(c)3, private, non-profit organization. Through state, federal, and private funds, the energy department is able to provide eligible households with assistance in meeting their home heating and energy costs. Referral and counseling services are also available to provide information regarding energy conservation and consumption, and help with termination of utility services. Weatherization of homes and apartments is available to those meeting eligibility requirements.
Services offered
