Appanoose County General Assistance

Appanoose County General Assistance is a county-funded program of limited financial assistance for eligible poor and needy in Appanoose County. Eligible persons are typically experiencing an interruption in their ability to earn a living from work because of a disability or serious injury or illness and are not receiving assistance from another source, such as SSI, FIP, etc. Financial assistance provided takes the form of direct payment of eligible expenses, which may include some utilities, rent, etc. The first step in the assistance process is completion of a General Assistance application. Applications are available at the General Assistance Office, 209 East Jackson Street, Centerville.
